Jewelry should always be treated with care and respect for the materials' natural tendencies. Periodic cleaning with very mild soapy water (lukewarm or cool) and polishing with a soft cloth will help keep your jewelry beautiful for years. Heavy wear, rough handling, chemical cleaning agents, perfumes, chlorine, salt water, and/or abrasives will negatively affect the appearance of all jewelry.
Sterling silver and gold: tarnish can be removed with a soft silver or gold polishing cloth.
A safe and gentle method for cleaning matte silver or gold is to rub toothpaste on the item in a circular motion and then rinse with warm water.
